REBORN INTO THE WATER

HEYDAR ALIYEV CENTER

Baku, Azerbaijan

JAN. 2026 - SEPT. 2027

The exhibition “Reborn into the Water” at the Heydar Aliyev Center is a major solo presentation of Carole Feuerman, offering a sweeping view of her work from the 1970s to today. It brings together over four decades of sculpture, tracing the evolution from early figurative pieces to her iconic swimmer forms, all unified by the theme of water. The show explores ideas of resilience, transformation, and human vulnerability, using the body as both subject and storyteller. Water functions as a central metaphor—for memory, renewal, and survival—while the figures evoke stillness, endurance, and emotional depth. Overall, the exhibition is both retrospective and deeply thematic, positioning the human figure as a symbol of persistence and rebirth in a changing world.

EXTENDED THROUGH SEPTEMBER 2027

MAY 28, 2026 - SEPTEMBER 31, 2026

Opening May 28, this exhibition presents a rare and intimate view of Carole Feuerman’s early drawings from the 1960s and 1970s—many shown for the first time in the United States. Created during a formative period of her career, these works reveal the origins of her lifelong engagement with the human figure, capturing moments of sensuality, vulnerability, and psychological presence through line alone.

Moving between fine art and illustration, the drawings demonstrate a remarkable command of form while hinting at the sculptural language that would later define her practice. From Line to Life offers a powerful glimpse into the foundation of Feuerman’s vision, where the body first emerges as both subject and symbol.

Bienal Del Agua
‘The Traces Of Water’

Cascais, Portugal

JULY 16 – SEPTEMBER 6, 2026

Centered on the global significance of water, Bienal Del Agua brings together contemporary artists whose works explore environmental awareness, human connection, and the future of our shared natural resources. Through interdisciplinary perspectives, the exhibition creates a space for cultural exchange and reflection on the ecological and social impact of water across communities worldwide.

Included in the exhibition is EN 2-1278 by Carole Feuerman, whose work has long been associated with themes of serenity, immersion, and the relationship between the body and water. The sculpture complements the Biennial’s broader dialogue surrounding sustainability, vulnerability, and the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural environment.
