Just two more days remain to catch Carole Feuerman’s terrific solo exhibition at Ethan Cohen Gallery in Chelsea. “I Am Mine, Without Permission” features hyperrealist sculptures from the 1970s through the 1990s. These are mostly male and female torsos, unevenly cropped and sexually suggestive. Their radical intimacy hits you first. Then you notice their technical mastery: hands clutching flesh and underwear, with every broken nail, Band-Aid, and tan line articulated in materials including resin, marble, silicone, and lacquer. These works predate Feuerman’s better-known sculptures of swimmers, which have appeared on New York’s Park Avenue in 2023, at the Eiffel Tower during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and along the Magnificent Mile in Chicago this summer. Her earlier works hark back to another art world—more experimental, less commercial. It was before my time, but I can’t help feeling nostalgic for it.

Superrealist Carole A. Feuerman always makes a splash with her art. Some of her iconic life-size sculptures are delighting onlookers in a public art exhibition called “Monuments of Stillness” along Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. The giant swimmers will be on display through November.

Feuerman, a New York artist, also brought her sculpture “Christina” to the Upper Plaza. Both works will remain on display for four weeks.

Intersect Aspen partnered with Hilton Contemporary to bring two public sculptures by the artist Carole Feuerman to the base of Aspen Mountain titled “The Golden Mean” and “Christina.” “The Golden Mean,” a 13-foot patinated bronze sculpture of an Olympic diver, came from Paris.

The two sculptures are on display at Gondola Plaza and there will be a public celebration of them on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. There, Feuerman will participate in a public conversation about her work, artistic practice and the realism of her sculpture “Christina” and the journey of “The Golden Mean” from Paris to Aspen.

Portugal is hosting the first edition of the Water Biennial – The Footprints of Water, a groundbreaking initiative on a global scale that places water at the center of scientific, artistic, and political reflection. Under the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic, the Biennial takes place between July and September in Cascais, bringing together international experts, renowned artists, and leading institutions in a multidisciplinary program that aims to position water as one of the major strategic themes of the 21st century.

More than just an art exhibition, the project was conceived as a platform for dialogue between science, culture, technology, and sustainability. The program includes an international series of conferences, contemporary art exhibitions, concerts, and meetings dedicated to innovation, culminating in the creation of the "Cascais Appeal," a document to be presented at the United Nations World Water Conference, scheduled for December 2026 in Dubai.

Chicago's Michigan Avenue has become an open-air gallery for large-scale sculptures this spring.

The big picture: "Monuments of Stillness" presents 11 works by Carole Feuerman on the Mag Mile, stretching from the Wrigley Building to Oak Street.

On June 2, 2026, Chicago unveiled a major public art exhibit. 8 large sculptures (soon to be 10) have been installed in the open air on Michigan Avenue, crafted by internationally lauded sculptor Carole Feuerman, presented by Hilton Contemporary, whose gallery at 716 N. Wells, is displaying smaller, distinctly impressive works by Feuerman.  Monuments of Stillness, which graces The Magnificent Mile from the Wrigley Building north to Oak Street, will remain in place through November 2026- and hopefully, at least a portion will remain thereafter, if/when Chicago purchases any of the works.

The Magnificent Mile just got a little glossier for summer. Eight sculptures by artist Carole Feuerman were unveiled Tuesday and will remain on view on and around Michigan Avenue north of the river through the fall.

The outdoor exhibition, titled “Monuments of Stillness,” is presented by Hilton Contemporary Gallery of Chicago and consists of the figures of swimmers, created in painted bronze, resin and stainless steel, that are “suspended in moments of reflection, resilience, and stillness,” according to an announcement of the unveiling.

Zoom in: Feuerman is best known for super-realistic sculptures of swimmers, a concept she developed at a turning point in her career and her life.

• In the late 1970s and early '80s Feuerman's marriage was falling apart at the same time galleries were rejecting her drawings of women's bodies, calling them too explicit.

• One day, as her kids swam in the water, she was sitting on the beach frustrated when her eyes locked on a woman emerging from the water.

• "She's wearing a red bathing suit, like a tank bathing suit, and she had her hair slicked back and water dripping down her face, and I said, 'Oh my god, that's it, I'm going to make a swimmer that looks like this lady,'" Feuerman tells Axios.

Acclaimed sculptor Carole A. Feuerman returned to Queensborough Community College (QCC) Thursday evening for the opening of “From Line to Life,” an exhibition celebrating the internationally recognized artist’s evolution from early drawings to her renowned super realist sculptures.
